Road fatalities have increased by 10 per cent this year compared to 2017. According to the latest statistics survey by the Authority, 2495 people had been killed by October 21 compared to 2,225 who died the same period in 2017. Pedestrians lead the group with 948 having lost their lives while pedal cyclists are the least affected with 42 of them having succumbed as a result of road crashes.

The number of people who died on the roads this year has exceeded that of last year by 234. According to the latest survey, 2,453 people have died by October this year compared to 2,219 who were killed on the road.

According to the latest survey results, by October 8, 2018 2,345 people had lost their lives compared to 2,162 who succumbed to their injuries in 2017. Pedestrians still account for the most vulnerable group with 905 of them having died. 42 pedal cyclists have lost their lives making them the list vulnerable group of road users.

The number fatalities resulting from road crashes have increased this year compared to last year. According to the statistics by the Authority, by October 3, 2018, 2,300 people had lost their lives compared 2,117 who died the same date in 2017.Pedestrians are still the vulnerable road users with 889 of them having lost their lives. .

The number of people who have lost their lives on the roads this year is higher with 7 percent compared to last year. According to the latest statistics survey report  by the National Transport and Safety Authority, 2,214 road users had died by September 25, 2018 compared to 2,053 who died by the same date in 2017. Pedestrians remains vulnerable group with 853 having perished.

Fatalities as a result road crashes has slightly increased by 6.4 per cent this year compared to last year. According to the latest survey results, a total of 1,977 people had lost their lives as a result of crash as up to August 27, 2018 compared to 1,858 who died by the same date in 2017. The increased retraining and sensitization of drivers on road safety measures by the National Transport and Safety Authority staff has seen the fatalities of drivers drop from 207 in 2017 to 200 in 2018.

Pedestrians remains the most vulnerable road users in the country with 709 of them being part of a total of 1,859 people that have lost their lives since the year began. This is according to the latest survey results dated August 13, 2018. Pedal cyclists are the least threatened group of road users whereby 36 of them have died.

The number of passengers who died on the roads has slightly gone up compared to last year. According to statistics, 407 passengers had died as up to July 29, 2018 compared to 377 who perished last year. A total of 1,721 have so far lost their lives this year.

We recorded a total of 1,157 fatalities on our daily report on May 18th, 2017 and a total of 1,132 on 18th May 2018. On 18th May 2018 a total of 85 fatalities was recorded.

The number of motor cyclists who have died on the road this year has surpassed that of last year. This is according to the crash statistics by the Authority. So far more than 203 cyclists have died compared to 173 who lost their lives by May 5, 2017. A total of 3,850 people have lost their lives through road crash since the year began.

1,328 people have lost their lives on the road as up to February 13, 2017 with motorcyclists being the highest victims followed with passengers at 73 and 70 respectively.

The number of people who died on the road accidents has reduced by 1,226 as up to August 8, 2017 compared to the same date last year where a total of 8, 396 lives were lost on the roads. This is according to the latest NTSA’s statistics. Most of those whose lives have been saved are the drivers. 643 lives have so far been lost compared to 703 that died on the roads by August 8, 2016.

643 pedestrians have died on roads as up to August 7, 2017 compared to 700 who died the same time last year. On the other hand, 191 drivers have lost their lives. This is a drop compared to last year where 219 drivers died.

The number of passengers killed in road crashes as at May 29th, 2017 is higher compared to the same period last year. So far, 317 lives have been lost compared to 279 passengers who perished on the same date in 2016. 464 lives of pedestrians have been lost compared to the same date- May 29, 2016 whereby 561 people died.

So far, 294 lives have been lost compared to 269 passengers who perished on the same date in 2016. 451 lives of pedestrians have been lost compared to the same date- May 23, 2016 whereby 497 people died.

The Number of lives of pedal cyclists saved on roads as at March 9th, 2017 increased by 14 compared to last year the same date where 21 people lost their lives. The reduction of the number to 7 is because of increased road safety campaigns targeting riders and cyclists across the country

The Number of lives of pedestrians saved on roads as at March 7th, 2017 increased by 28 compared to last year the same date where 256 people died. The reduction of the number to 228 is because of increased road safety campaigns including the construction of guardrails.

The Number of pedestrians killed on the road as at March 6th, 2017 had dropped to 224 compared to the same date in 2016 where 249 people lost their lives. According to our reports the reduction is as a results of increased road safety campaigns including the construction of guardrails.

Number of fatalities as at 28th February 2017 is 198. Last year on the same day, 228 lives were lost. As per our reports, 128 persons were severely injured on this day against 192 on the same day last year

As at 26th February 2017, there were 213 fatalities among st pedestrians reported compared to 553 on the day in 2016. 322 pedestrians were serious injured while another 396 were slightly injured during the same period.

As at 25th February 2017, the number of pedestrians killed on the road dropped by 36 to 186 compared to 222 who had died by the same day 2016. 126 were seriously injured.

As at 24th February 2017, there were 182 fatalities reported compared to 221 on the same day in 2016. 123 pedestrians were seriously injured while another 64 were slightly injured during the same period.

More than five pedestrians lost their lives across the country in fatal crashes. Others were motor cyclists and rivers of various motor vehicles. In most accidents, the victims were knocked down by the vehicles whose drivers ran away.
